Adventure Outfitters is located one mile west of Canon City, Colorado right on Highway 50. We are easy to find! Our area of Colorado, known as the Royal Gorge region, is a very popular tourist destination and vacation spot.

There is much to do and see here, including rafting on the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge itself. The Arkansas River is the most popular river for water sports in the western U.S. – maybe even in the world!

At Adventure Outfitters you will find some of the most experienced river professionals in the industry. Adventure Outfitters has been owned and operated by Tony and Kathy Keenan since its inception in 1994.

We are quite proud of our staff, many of which have been professional river rafting guides for many years. You will be hard pressed to find a company with more overall experience in the industry that we have here. Our goal is to provide you with an unforgettable river rafting experience.

The Adventure Outfitters Team

We far exceed the standards set by the State of Colorado and the AHRA, a division of Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and our governing body. Our high standards and attention to detail are what sets us apart from the rest.

So when you book your rafting trip with Adventure Outfitters, you can rest assured that you not only have chosen well, but that we will demonstrate with no uncertainty why we are second to none when it comes to earning your trust. Our giudes are experts in the Royal Gorge section of the river. It would be difficult to find a company with the overall experience level of our guide staff. We are selective about our guide staff and those that run trips for us are among the best and most experienced guides in Colorado.

Kathy is the Office Manager, and personally supervises reservations and the food service. Tony is the Operations Manager and oversees the guides, drivers and logistics. Together they have over 40 years of combined experience in the commercial river rafting industry.

Tony is and has been involved in leadership in the river industry in several capacities: Member of the Arkansas River Outfitters Association (AROA). Served as Secretary of the Board of Directors for over 6 years. Served as President of the Board of Directors for 2 years. For over 8 years, Tony was the chairman of the AROA water resources committee. In this capacity he worked to protect flows on the Arkansas River and to continue the implementation of the annual Flow Management Program, which provides flows specifically for river rafting in July and August each season. This program is unique to Colorado and the Arkansas River. Tony is also currently the co-chairman of the AHRA Rationing and Agreement Advisory Committee, and has been for 10 years and counting. This group helps to direct the future of the AHRA and works to fine tune documents such as the "Rationing Plan" and the "Special Use Agreement", which is the permit and all the rules and regulations rafting companies operate under within the Park. Very few outfitters are as involved and committed as we are at Adventure Outfitters.
